MAPLETON TO HAVE

There

Mapleton, August 30.--Mapleton is to have a tourist camp and a park. Both of these projects were favorably voted upon at the last council meeting. The town lots at the pump station have been designated as the camp for tourists, situated on east Main street. It is easy to access being on the detour of the trail which take in Main street. The place is covered with a carpet of grass and when the camp kitchen and hydrant are complete it will no doubt be used often by our friends passing through. The commercial club appropriated $100 toward expenses.

The corner of West Main street facing the Standard Oil Station has long been used as a hitching lot for teams of the farmers. The modern tuck having taken the place of horses for hauling it was little used of late. The park joins the library lawn on the west and all together when complete will be a beauty spot in the center of our town which can be used for lawn socials or other out door events.
