February

Reprinted from the Mankato Free Press

14 February 1891

A resident of Beauford township informs the Free Press that diphtheria is still extant in that town in a very virulent form. It is still confined to the immediate neighborhood where it first broke out, but has stricken two or three more families, several deaths resulting. It will be remembered that the Farble family of this city first caught the disease at the home of a friend in Beauford. In one of the families afflicted six deaths have occurred and in another, five. The authorities of that town should endeavor to destroy every vestige of clothing or other articles, in these homes that is liable to be instrumental in spread the disease in future. The families could be recompensed for any such confiscation of their effects.
