Heritage Center

The Heritage Center is located at 415 Cherry Street, Mankato, MN, is the home of the Blue Earth County Historical Society and houses the exhibit gallery, research center, museum store and BECHS administrative offices.
The Exhibit Gallery and Research Center hours are:
- Tuesday 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM
- Wednesday through Saturday 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

- Students, 6-17 years: $1.00

Research Center
The Research Center contains an extensive collection of books, photographs and manuscripts on the history of Blue Earth County. Research Center fees are $3.00 per day for non-members and free for members. Photocopy and microfilm fees: 8 1/2x11 or 8 1/2x14, $.25 per page, 11x17, $.50 per page. Research of BECHS holdings by Archives Assistant: no charge for the first 15 minutes (minimum charge for making and mailing photocopies, $5.00), $20.00 per hour therafter.

- Minnesota Territorial census for 1857
- United States census for Blue Earth County, Minnesota 1860 through 1920 (there is no 1890 census for Minnesota).
- Minnesota State census for Blue Earth County from 1865-1905
- Cemetery Index: covers all of the cemeteries in Blue Earth County
- Blue Earth County City Directories: 1871-1994
- Obituary Index: covers 1880 to date
- Biography files: contains newspaper clippings and other items about many Blue Earth County families
- Maps and Atlases: Blue Earth County and some surroundings counties, 1874-1990
- Newspapers: Microfilm copies of all Blue Earth County Newspapers from 1857-1998.
- Servicemen's Index and file: contains clippings from Blue Earth County newspaper regarding men and women serving during World War II.
- Vertical File: contains newspaper clippings and other items about many topics.
- Families Histories: printed histories for many Blue Earth County families.
- Photograph Collection
- Church Histories: printed histories and many other items on Blue Earth County Churches.
- Township Notesbooks: Social brevities, 1879-1945
- Reference Library: Local and state history and genealogical resources.

Museum Store
The Museum Store is stocked with various souvenir items, historical books, reproduction toys, collectibles, and one
of a kind items with a local flavor. BECHS is also the only location in Blue Earth County that carries archival items for
your preservation needs. Members receive a 10% discount on most items available through the store.
