  • Sunday, September 30, 2018 - 11:00am to 4:00pm

Come out to Minneopa State Park for a new, exciting event. Visitors will have a chance to watch artists painting scenes of Minneopa and ask questions about their paintings and art. The artists will be set up on the waterfalls side of the park at different locations. There will also be hands-on activities for children at the picnic shelter from 12 noon to 2 o'clock. Visitors can also learn about Robert Duncanson, an African-American artist from Cincinnati who ventured here in 1862 to paint Minneopa Falls. Duncanson may have been one of the first plein air artists at the falls. Plein Air Painting revolves around using the natural light by painting outdoors. The idea dates back to the mid-19th Century and remains popular today. The event is co-sponsored by the Friends of Minneopa and the Blue Earth County Historical Society.

This event is free with a State Park parking permit.
