Curling in Blue Earth County

Curling has been a past time in Blue Earth County for almost as long as it has been a county. A traditional game played by those from Scotland brought to the county by many who have Scottish ancestry. The game is played by teams sliding heavy granite stones across the ice. Brooms are used to help glide the stone down the ice and into the scoring area where there are three rings with different score values. Each team gets eight stones to and whichever team scores the highest is the winner.

Blue Earth County currently has two curing clubs, The Heather Curling Club in Mapleton and the Mankato Curling Club. Check their websites for dates and time for matches or for open days on the ice.
